FABA Board issued a statement regarding the use of composite bats.

As of 12/8/11
Greetings,
This purpose of this message is to act as a follow-up to the statement that the FABA board released last season in regard to the use of composite bats in our league.

At that time, it was noted that many national organizations had banned the use of composite bats, however this ban was not universally adapted by the other indepenent youth baseball organizations in Berks County (which FABA is a part of). While our league did not ban these bats for the 2011 season, we recommended that parents NOT purchase this type of bat going forward.

With the holiday season upon us, we would like to emphasize that point once again.  While a new bat may be on the wish list for your young player, we would strongly recommend holding off until we are able to get a clearer picture of exactly which bats will be allowed and which will not. Please know that this is a very fluid situation, and that meetings pertaining to virtually every age group in our organization are happening at both the local and national levels.

The safety of the players in our organization is our primary concern. To that end, we will make sure to uphold the findings of these meetings, and perhaps exceed them as well. When we have more information, we will post it on the FABA website and/or as a handout provided at registration in January.  Thanks very much, and have a safe and happy holiday season!
