Ducks Win Opener! Game Recap

The Ducks pulled out a great victory over the Blue Rocks in the season debut this past Saturday 9-6. Singles in the first inning by Nick Liptok, Tommy Cox, and Wyle Jost pushed 4 runs across to give the Ducks an early lead. The Blue Rocks answered right back with four of their own in the bottom of the first powered by a triple from Fry. The second inning was a little calmer but the Ducks managed to get two runs accross that was started by a nice double from Landon Yerger. The Blue Rocks came back with one run of their own in the bottom of the second to leave the score 6-5 after 2 innings. The Ducks pushed one run across in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings respectively, off of a nice triple from Tyler Hartman and singles from Cole Pennypacker and Mick Cox. Strong shutdown pitching from Tommy Cox and great defense by Nick Liptok, Mick Cox, and Adam Dybowski held the Blue Rocks from scoring in the 3rd and 4th innings. Cole Pennypacker pitched the last inning and limited the Blue Rocks to one run. Tyler Fichthorn and Wyatt Dunkleberger showed great eyes at the plate. The combination of opportune hitting, good defense, and strong pitching led to this impressive Opening Day win.
