Scrappers Drop Pitching Duel with OVYL Reinert in Pitchers Duel

Scrappers Bats Go Cold

Updated Thursday April 28, 2016 by Jared Pennypacker.

The Scrappers dropped their second game to the OVYL Reinert team in a defensive pitchers' duel contest 2-1.  Oley scored their only two runs in the first from a double and single from their number 2 and 3 hitters respectively.  The Scrappers answered back with one of their own in the bottom of the first when Landon Yerger doubled to right center scoring Pennypacker.  This was the conclusion of all scoring in the game however.  The Scrappers looked at too many pitches and struck out 14 times in the game.  The pitching and defense for both teams was phenomenal.  There were no walks issued by either team in the game which is an amazing Little League statistic.  The pitching tandem of Cox, Yerger, and Pennypacker shut down Oley but with cold bats, the effort was in vain.  The Scrappers also exhbited sound defense with nice plays made by Vincent Cardell, Michael Liebman, and John Schaeffer.  The team will look to rebound next Friday against the Threshers.
