Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How do I register my child to play baseball for FABA?
A:  On the Home page click on the Register button and follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to create an account that will be used for all players in the same household for as long as they play for FABA.

Q:  I would like to have my child play up a level from his/her actual age group. Is this allowed and how do I request to do so?
A:  Because player safety is of utmost importance to us, we will typically require players to participate in the division in which they are assigned based on their age on May 1st, which coincides with the start of our spring season. However we understand that there are certain circumstances where it makes sense to allow a player to move up early. If you feel your child falls into this category, a formal written request must be emailed to the Board at [email protected]. If we think the request is justified we will invite your child to the evaluations for that division where the coaches and Board will make the final decision.

Q:  When do practices start and what days can I expect practices and games to be on?
A:  Depending on the weather we try to start practicing outside in mid to late March. Practices are once or twice a week and will vary depending on which team you are on. Once games start in the beginning of May there is usually just one practice per week plus games. Games are scheduled Monday through Saturday although Sunday games could occur if a game has to rescheduled due to weather. The season will typically run until the end of June.

Q:  What equipment do I need to purchase and what is provided by the league?
A:  Each player should have his/her own glove and appropriate footwear. Metal spikes are not allowed under age 13. Many players also have their own helmets and bats, however the club will provide each coach with helmets, bats and catcher's equipment.

Q:  I'd like to volunteer to coach, what do I need to complete to be eligible to do so?
A:  Every coach and assistant coach is required to complete and provide child abuse clearance and the background check. If you have not lived in PA for more than 10 years you have to provide the FBI federal background check. The forms can be located at : http://keepkidssafe.pa.gov/. Also thank you for considering volunteering your time to help mold and coach the youth of our area.
